On September 2, 2021, Agnico Eagle Mines, submitted an Initial Project Description (IPD) for its Upper Beaver Gold Project to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada. The IPD has been accepted by the Agency and was posted on the Agency’s registry, along with a public Notice, on September 13, 2021, initiating the 180-day time limit for the Planning Phase of the Impact Assessment Process.

The Agency is now initiating a 21-day comment period on the Initial Project Description with Indigenous Nations, as well as the public and other participants.

The public and Indigenous groups are invited to review the summary of the initial project description available on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry and provide feedback related to the proposed project. Written comments can be submitted online by October 4, 2021, by visiting the project home page of the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry.

The Agency will also hold virtual information sessions (in French and English) for the public and Indigenous groups to learn more about the project and the impact assessment process, as well as how to submit comments on the summary of the initial project description.

For more information on these sessions and how you can participate, as well as to how you can provide comments to the Summary of the Initial Project Description, please see the Agency’s Public Notice.
